The annual GWIS National Conference is a great platform to meet fellow members and provides a venue for GWIS members from all chapters to interact, network, learn about key issues in science, and get more involved in the organization.

 

The conference features leadership training, keynote speakers, research poster sessions, career workshops, honorary awards presentations, and much more!

The theme of this year's meeting is "Yes, I do belong in science!" We will focus on the immense value as well as the distinct challenges of holding various and intersecting identities and experiences as women-identified folks in STEM fields. We hope to provide unique and useful resources for women in STEM, not only to successfully navigate our fields as they exist now, but also to challenge institutions and transform STEM fields into inclusive spaces for all people to thrive.

Join a Committee

Planning a conference that serves and welcomes everyone is a team effort! We'd love if you'd join us!

Explore our committees & help us put on a spectacular conference.

Outreach & Marketing

The Outreach & Marketing Committee will be the primary contact for attendees. This committee will advertise the conference to all chapters and maintain the website & social media accounts, as well as oversee the registration process.

Professional Events

The Professional Events Committee will  lead the nomination, selection, and invitation of speakers, panelists, workshops, and keynotes. They will work with the Social Events Committee to coordinate the poster session, lightning talks, and networking opportunities at the 2020 Conference.

Logistics Committee

The Logistics Committee is responsible for reserving venues, coordinating transportation, and overseeing technology & equipment throughout the conference. This committee will focus on the details in collaboration with the other committees.

Finance

The Finance Committee is responsible for coordination of all fundraising efforts, securing sponsorships from departments & organizations, creation of the conference budget, and management of all funds.

Social Events

The Social Events Committee will plan dinners, campus tours, and social outings. They will work with the Professional Events Committee to coordinate the poster session and networking spaces during the conference.
